A proclamation from the Mayor, Council and Employees was presented to Ralph “Butch” Broermann at his retirement lunch on March 31, 2010 by Vice Mayor Debbie Grueninger. The luncheon was well attended by all employees of the Public Works Department, the Police Department and the Village Office. Council members Ralph Hoop and Jenny Kilgore also were present along with former employee Wes Blalock former Mayor Dr. Tom Todd and Tri-County Press reporter Kelly McBride.

Here is some information included in the proclamation. Butch has been a faithful and loyal employee of the Village of Glendale in the Public Works Department for 37 years, from June 1970 to February 1978 and rehired March 1981 and retiring March 31, 2010. He was born at Maple Knoll and moved to Glendale with his parents and siblings in 1958. His mother still lives in the same house. Butch and his wife Cynthia live in Springdale and have 3 daughters and one granddaughter.

Butch was responsible for helping keep Glendale streets and sidewalks clear of snow in winters and maintain the parks in summers. Butch was always available, on time and neat in uniform. His 37 years of knowledge have made him a valuable and vital member of the public works department of the Village of Glendale.

The Glendale Mayor, Council and employees thank you for your sincere devotion and dedication of 37 years as an employee of the Village of Glendale. You are a familiar face that will be missed, but all of us sincerely want you and Cindy to enjoy a well earned retirement.
