The
Glendale Police Department provides high quality, customer-focused law
enforcement services to the picturesque and historic Village of Glendale,
Ohio. Located in the north central region of the Cincinnati metropolitan
area, the primarily residential village is close to numerous retail,
entertainment and industrial centers, and is bordered to the east by I-75.
The police department continues to operate from the same historic
station that was built and placed into service in 1871. The building was
specifically constructed as a police station, and is considered one of the
oldest continuously operating police stations in the United States. The
police station is located at 301 East Sharon Road, just east of the CSX
railroad crossing.
The Glendale Police Department has been under the leadership of Chief
Dave Warman since May of 2007. The department proudly functions as
a highly cohesive team, dedicated to the constant improvement of
operations and ultimately, the quality of life in Glendale. Including the
chief, the department has seven full time and five part time officers.
Civilian personnel consist of a police /court clerk, and a school crossing
guard. Three civilian volunteer clerks also assist the police department.
These volunteers, through the generous donation of their time, assist
officers and office staff with a variety of clerical and public contact
functions.
There are several numbers to contact the police department via
telephone; depending on the nature of the complaint or service desired.
The Glendale Police Department utilizes the Hamilton County Communications
Center for our 24-hour dispatching and 911 services. The police office is
staffed Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. After regular business
hours, the business line (771-7645) is forwarded to a cell phone carried
by one of the on-duty officers. It is important to understand that if the
officer is occupied with other duties, this line may go directly to voice
mail, where you may leave a short message and/or a call back number.

Visiting the Station:
The Glendale police station is staffed Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am to
4:30 pm. The public entrance is on Sharon Road. After regular business
hours or if there is no clerk on duty, a telephone (local calls only) is
available in the police department lobby. Call the on-duty officer cell
phone at 678-1017 and request that an officer meet you at the station. In
the event that the officer is occupied and cannot answer this line, you
may call the Hamilton County Communications Center and request that a
Glendale officer respond to their station. The dispatcher will send an
officer to your location. As always, if the situation
is an emergency, Call 911.
Glendale Police Department Special Care Alert Information Program
The Glendale Police Department embraces its role in the community, and seeks to provide exemplary service to those in the Village, consistent with the rights and dignity of all persons. In our latest effort to ensure the safety and security of all citizens of the Village, the department is introducing a program for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer?s, dementia or those that require other special care. This program will seek information from these individuals or their caregivers to assist the police in rapidly responding in case the person wanders off, becomes lost or experiences a medical emergency.
If you are a caregiver for someone in the Village or have an elderly family member who has been diagnosed with a condition which may result in them becoming lost or wandering away, or who may require other special care, please complete a Special Care Alert Information Form. The form is available on the Police Department website here. This one-page form includes information that will help the police identify the individual such as height, weight, birth date, vehicle information as well as emergency contact information and medical assistance information. We also request a recent photograph of the person be provided.

COMMUNITY NOTICE REFERENCE CHANGE IN ORDINANCE 91.05:
DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE
ON APRIL 7, 2014, THE GLENDALE VILLAGE COUNCIL APPROVED CHANGES IN GLENDALE ORDINANCE 91.05 WHICH ADDRESSES DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE IN THE VILLAGE. THIS ORDINANCE NOW REQUIRES THAT, WHEN A DOG IS OUTSIDE THE PREMISES OWNED BY THE OWNER, KEEPER OR HARBORER OF A DOG, THE DOG MUST BE, 1: ON A LEASH OR TETHER THAT IS CONTROLLED BY A PERSON OF SUITABLE AGE AND DISCRETION, OR; 2: ON A LEASH OR TETHER THAT IS SECURELY ATTACHED TO A STAKE, ROD OR OTHER FIXTURE SECURED TO THE GROUND AND WITH A PERSON OF SUITABLE AGE AND DISCRETION WHO IS IN CLOSE ENOUGH PROXIMITY TO PREVENT THE DOG FROM CAUSING HARM TO ANY PERSON, OR; 3: IN A PEN OR FENCED AREA FROM WHICH THE DOG CANNOT LEAVE.
IN SUM, THE VILLAGE NOW HAS A LEASH LAW AND ALL DOGS AND DOG OWNERS ARE SUBJECT TO THIS ORDINANCE. UNTIL MAY 7, 2014 THE GLENDALE POLICE WILL ISSUE WARNINGS FOR VIOLATIONS TO DOG OWNERS NOT PREVIOUSLY CITED OR WARNED FOR DOG VIOLATIONS, SO LONG AS THE OBSERVED VIOLATION DOES NOT RESULT IN HARM TO ANOTHER PERSON OR ANIMAL. EFFECTIVE MAY 8, 2014, THERE WILL BE STRICT ENFORCEMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE AND ANY OBSERVED VIOLATIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE WILL RESULT IN THE OWNER, KEEPER OR HARBORER OF THE OFFENDING DOG BEING CITED TO GLENDALE MAYOR?S COURT OR TO HAMILTON COUNTY MUNICIPAL COURT.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED A LARGE NUMBER OF DOG COMPLAINTS IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS AND SOME OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE INVOLVED INJURIES TO PERSONS AND OTHER ANIMALS. IF YOU OWN A DOG AND YOUR DOG HAS AGGRESSIVE TENDENCIES, NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE CORRECTIVE OR RELOCATION ACTION.
NOW IS ALSO THE TIME TO MAKE PLANS FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION FOR DOGS THAT BARK EXCESSIVELY. THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR WHEN BARKING DOG COMPLAINTS BECOME MORE COMMON, AND THESE WILL ALSO BE DEALT WITH STRICTLY THIS SPRING AND SUMMER.
